Who's Who in Mycology plays within that tradition, but brings it to today so very well.
Tony plays trombone, and one night a woman falls unconscious on the floor of the club where he's playing. He brings back to her home, and then things get silly!
Tony, played with incredible physical timing and alacrity by Joel Brady, tries to open a bottle of wine, which leads to an amazing segment that plays like the best of Harold Lloyd, and that leads to a fantastical portion which feels so amazing, until it turns into an amazing Buster Keaton-esque short that simply blows the mind!
Director Marie Dvorakova does an amazing job moving between concepts, and the production values she employs heighten the comedy, and the joy of the presentation all the way to the very end.
Who's Who in Mycology plays as a part of Shorts Program 7 - Comedy Favorites and plays at the Hammer Theatre Downtown SJ on Fri, Mar 3 9:30 PM and at the Century 20 Redwood City on Sun, Mar 5 3:50 PM, Mon, Mar 6 4:30 PM and Thu, Mar 9 8:30 PM
